Welcome to The Story Behind the Story.
If you’ve ever wondered why we made certain decisions, how this ministry came together, or what God was teaching us behind the scenes…
…you’re in the right place. This isn’t where I teach the Bible. It’s where I tell the stories that shaped the ministry. The unexpected turns. The answered prayers. The ideas that worked. The ones that didn’t And the countless moments where God quietly reminded us that His plans are almost always better than ours.
So grab a cup of coffee.
Pull up a chair.
Today, I’d love to tell you the story behind launching Guardians of Biblical Truth.
The Beginning
People often think a ministry begins the day the first video goes live.
For us… that couldn’t be further from the truth. Long before anyone saw a single thumbnail… Long before the first subscriber… Long before YouTube even knew we existed… there was a notebook.
Actually… there were lots of notebooks. Lists. Diagrams. Timelines. Mind maps. Sticky notes. Project plans. Whiteboards. And somewhere in the middle of it all… Eric and I.
Trying to figure out how to build something we’d never built before. Every time we checked one item off the list… three more seemed to appear. Create a website. Now build another website. Set up a blog. Learn YouTube. Design thumbnails. Build a studio. Film the books. Create graphics. Write PDFs. Set up email systems. Organize project management. Create revenue streams. Launch a Facebook community. Learn new software. Build new workflows.
It felt endless. More than once we looked at each other and laughed. “I thought we were just starting a YouTube channel.”
The Turning Point
At one point I counted the tasks. There were well over fifteen-hundred of them. Some were small. Others took weeks. Many of them were things we didn’t even know we needed to learn until we reached that step.
There were days when we felt like students again. Learning cameras. Lighting. Editing. Audio, Graphic design. Automation. Publishing systems. Social media. The list seemed impossible.
But something beautiful began happening. Instead of focusing on the entire mountain… God simply gave us the next step. Not the next fifty. Just… the next one. One checklist became another. One lesson became another. One finished task quietly prepared us for the next.
Looking back now, I realize we weren’t just building a ministry. God was building two people capable of stewarding it.
What We Learned
One of the greatest lessons God taught us is that preparation is part of the assignment. We tend to celebrate public moments. Launch Day. The first subscriber. The first thousand views. The finished video. God often celebrates something different. Faithfulness when no one is watching.
There were months when it looked like nothing was happening. But everything was happening. Systems were being built. Processes were being refined. Mistakes were being made. Skills were being learned. Trust was growing. And somewhere along the way, Eric and I stopped asking, “When are we finally going to launch?” Instead we began asking, “Lord… what would You have us build today?” That one question changed everything.
When people look at Guardians of Biblical Truth today, they often see the videos, the books, the study, the websites, and all the moving pieces. What they don’t see is that behind every one of them was a simple decision. One more “yes.” We’re just a husband-and-wife team following the Holy Spirit, one step at a time… one “yes” at a time.
Did I mention, we are just two people, a husband and wife team – simply following the lead of the Holy Spirit one step at a time, one “yes” at a time.
Where We Are Now
In February 2026… we finally pressed Publish. Phase One began with 102 cinematic seasonal-book series videos. The Vanishing. The Trumpet I. The Trumpet II.
Months later came Phase Two. The cameras turned toward me. Pilot videos. FAQ videos. The Eight LANEs. Coffee with God. Bible Studies. The Story Behind the Story.
Looking back, I smile because people often see the finished ministry. They don’t see the thousands of quiet decisions that made it possible.
But perhaps that’s how God often works. He prepares in private… before He reveals in public.
And maybe that’s true in your life too. If you’re in a season where it feels like you’re doing ordinary work that no one notices… don’t underestimate it. Some of God’s greatest preparation happens before anyone else ever sees the fruit.
I’m so grateful we didn’t rush the process. Because now I understand something I couldn’t see then. God wasn’t delaying the launch. He was preparing us for it.
One “Yes” at a Time.
Reflecting back, every step of this ministry reminds me that God rarely shows us the whole journey.
He simply asks us to trust Him with the next step.
That’s how this ministry has been built.
One “yes” at a time.
Until next time…
Thank you for letting Eric and me share this journey with you.
