Good morning, my friend.
Pour yourself another cup of coffee.
Can I share something that’s been on my heart?
One of the hardest parts of being a parent…
is realizing there comes a day when you can’t make the decisions anymore.
You can pray.
You can encourage.
You can listen.
But you can’t live someone else’s life.
I remember walking through one of those seasons with my daughter, Erica.
She was in a long-term relationship.
They loved each other.
But they weren’t on the same page about marriage or having children.
As her mom…
I wanted everything to work out.
I wanted certainty for her.
I wanted happiness for her.
Most of all…
I wanted to protect her heart.
Isn’t that what mothers do?
We carry our children’s joys…
and sometimes their questions…
right alongside them.
There were conversations.
Prayers.
Tears.
Long walks.
More prayers.
And if I’m being honest…
there were plenty of moments when I wanted to tell God exactly how He should solve the situation.
Have you ever prayed like that? 😊
Then one day the Lord quietly reminded me of something.
Erica wasn’t my project.
She was His daughter before she was ever mine.
That changed everything.
It didn’t remove my concern.
But it did change where I carried it.
Instead of carrying it alone…
I learned to place it back into God’s hands.
Over…
and over…
and over again.
✝️ What God Has Been Teaching Me
Proverbs 3 tells us:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart… and He shall direct your paths.”
– Proverbs 3
Sometimes we read that verse as though it’s only about our own decisions.
But I’ve discovered it’s also about trusting God with the people we love.
Especially when we can’t choose for them.
Especially when we wish we could.
Faith doesn’t mean pretending we aren’t concerned.
It means believing God loves our children even more than we do.
♥️ A Little Encouragement for Your Week
Maybe you’re carrying someone today.
A son.
A daughter.
A spouse.
A friend.
Someone whose future keeps you awake at night.
Can I gently remind you of something I’m still learning?
Prayer accomplishes far more than worry ever will.
We don’t have to have all the answers.
We simply need to keep placing the people we love into the hands of the One who does.
That’s not giving up.
That’s trusting.
