Hey friend…
Have you ever wondered, “Can I really learn theology without going to seminary?”
Maybe you’ve quietly believed that understanding doctrine is for pastors, professors, or people with years of Bible college—but not for you.
If that’s why you clicked this video… you’re in the right place.
Because today I’m going to show you, directly from Scripture, that you can begin learning theology with confidence by first learning what God says about Himself. And by the end of this episode, you’ll have a simple biblical path to start that journey today.
____________
Bible College Without College | Can You Learn Theology Without Seminary?
Let’s open our Bibles together.
Today we’re going to answer one important question by walking through five simple steps.
STEP 1 – What Is Bible college Without College?
STEP 2 – Why Does Doctrine Matter for My Relationship with God?
STEP 3 – How Does God Teach Me Through His Word?
STEP 4 – Why Don’t I Need Seminary to Know God?
STEP 5 – How Can I Start Learning Theology Today?
First, we’ll discover what Bible College Without College really means… and why every believer can learn God’s Word for themselves.
Then we’ll answer an important question many Christians never stop to ask…
Why does doctrine matter?
And why does knowing biblical truth actually deepen your relationship with God?
Next, we’ll discover how God has always intended to teach His people…
through His Word…
by His Spirit…
one passage at a time.
Then we’ll answer a question that intimidates many believers…
Do I really need seminary…
or is God’s Word enough to truly know Him?
Finally, we’ll finish with the most practical question of all…
How do I begin?
Not someday…
not after years of study…
but today.
By the end of today’s journey…
you won’t just believe theology is for someone else…
you’ll know you can begin learning what God says about Himself…
one Scripture…
one lesson…
and one faithful step at a time.
____________
Stay with me until the end because Today’s Coffee With God Moment isn’t another lesson—it’s a simple invitation to sit quietly with God and begin putting today’s truth into practice… one conversation with Him at a time.
TODAY’S COFFEE WITH GOD MOMENT / What Relationship Looks like Daily
And if YOU’VE never trusted Jesus –
or you’re ready to come home to Him – we’ll pray together before YOU go.
____________
This is Guardians of Biblical Truth – your pathway to readiness for the return of Christ.
____________
Can I share something personal?
Years ago, the Lord put something on my heart.
I kept meeting ordinary believers who loved Jesus deeply… yet quietly believed they needed someone else to tell them what the Bible meant.
That broke my heart.
So I began praying,
“Lord, if You allow me to teach Your Word… help me remove as many barriers as possible so people can know You for themselves.”
That’s why this RELATIONSHIP lane exists.
Not to replace pastors…
or good Bible teachers…
but to encourage you to open your Bible first.
Because before we learn what people say about God…
I believe we should first learn what God says about Himself.
And friend…
that’s the journey we’re beginning together.
I’m Lori Ann Moeszinger, and this is Guardians of Biblical Truth, where we put Scripture first—no fear, no hype—and practical next steps you can live today.
So if you want to know what the Bible really says…
keep watching.
____________
Real quick…
before we dive into today’s lesson…
let me show you where we are.
This is Module 1 of our RELATIONSHIP journey…
where we’re discovering that theology…
was never meant to fill our heads…
it was meant to deepen our relationship…
with the God who loves us.
First…
we asked an important question:
Can you learn theology without seminary?
And we discovered…
that God’s Word wasn’t written…
only for scholars…
or professors…
but for every believer…
who wants to know Him.
Then…
we’ll ask…
Why do most Christians get God wrong?
Because our relationship with God…
can only become as healthy…
as our understanding of who He truly is.
We’ll discover…
why knowing God’s character…
changes everything.
After that…
we’ll answer…
Who is Jesus—really?
Not the Jesus…
culture creates…
or religion imagines…
but the Jesus…
revealed in Scripture.
The One…
fully God…
fully Man…
our Savior…
our King.
And finally…
we’ll discover…
Who is the Holy Spirit?
Not confusion…
not emotion…
not hype…
but God’s personal presence…
guiding…
transforming…
and empowering His people.
Every episode builds on the one before it.
One relationship.
One Bible.
One faithful God.
One step closer…
to knowing Him…
the way He reveals Himself.
Now…
let’s open our Bibles together.
____________
STEP 1 – What Is Bible College Without College?
Can I tell you something I’ve noticed?
The moment someone says the word “theology,” a lot of wonderful Christians quietly take a step backward.
They picture classrooms.
Professors.
Big books.
Words they can’t pronounce.
And somewhere along the way, they begin believing…
“That’s not for someone like me.”
Maybe you’ve felt that way too.
Maybe you’ve thought,
“I love Jesus… but I don’t know enough.”
Or…
“I wish I understood the Bible better, but I never went to Bible college.”
Friend…
what if we’ve been asking the wrong question?
What if the question isn’t…
“Did I go to seminary?”
What if it’s simply…
“Am I willing to open God’s Word?”
Because before you learn what people say about God…
learn what God says about Himself.
That’s where every healthy relationship begins.
Not with someone else’s opinion.
With His voice.
Listen to what God told His people.
Deuteronomy 6:6–7 – “And these words, which I command you this day, shall be in your heart: And you shalt teach them diligently unto your children, and shalt talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.”
Do you hear how personal that is?
God wasn’t describing a classroom.
He was describing everyday life.
Around the dinner table.
Walking together.
Before bed.
First thing in the morning.
His Word wasn’t meant to stay inside a building.
It was meant to live inside His people.
Then listen to what He told Joshua.
Joshua 1:8 – “This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; but you shalt meditate therein day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then you shalt make your way prosperous, and then you shalt have good success.”
Notice what God didn’t say.
He didn’t say,
“Joshua, wait until someone explains everything to you.”
He said,
Meditate.
Think.
Read.
Live it.
God expected His servant to know Him through His Word.
That’s biblical learning.
Not collecting information.
Building relationship.
Now listen to Paul’s beautiful reminder.
2 Timothy 3:16–17 – “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”
I love that word…
profitable.
Scripture isn’t meant to impress you.
It’s meant to help you.
It teaches.
Corrects.
Shapes.
Strengthens.
Why?
Because God wants you to know Him.
Not merely know about Him.
Then Jesus says something remarkable.
John 5:39 – “Search the scriptures; for in them you think you have eternal life: and they are they which testify of Me.”
Who did Jesus invite to search the Scriptures?
Not only scholars.
Not only religious leaders.
People.
Ordinary people.
People like you.
People like me.
Friend…
that’s what I mean when I say Bible College Without College.
I’m not against seminaries.
I’m thankful for faithful pastors.
Teachers.
Men and women who have devoted their lives to studying God’s Word.
They are gifts to the Church.
But their greatest calling isn’t to stand between you and the Bible.
It’s to help you open it with confidence.
Because the greatest Teacher has always been the Holy Spirit…
working through the Word He inspired.
So here’s your first win today.
You do not need permission to know God.
You don’t need a classroom before you can open your Bible.
You don’t need letters after your name before you can sit at the feet of Jesus.
You simply need a willing heart…
an open Bible…
and the humility to let God introduce Himself.
Because theology…
at its very best…
isn’t about becoming an expert.
It’s about becoming a disciple.
And every disciple begins the same way—
not by mastering a subject…
but by learning to know the Savior.
____________
Can I share something I’ve noticed?
One of the greatest barriers to knowing God…
isn’t a lack of intelligence.
It’s the quiet belief that someone else is always more qualified.
That somehow…
God’s Word belongs in the hands of experts…
instead of ordinary believers.
Maybe that’s why you clicked today.
Because deep down…
you’ve wondered if God really intended His Word…
for someone like you.
THE RETURNING BELIEVER
Maybe life pulled you away.
Maybe church became complicated.
Maybe you assumed you’d never “catch up.”
Friend…
God isn’t asking you to earn your way back into His Word.
He’s simply inviting you to open it again.
Not because you’ve mastered theology…
but because He wants to meet you there.
THE QUESTIONER
You ask good questions.
Sometimes you’ve even been told…
“Just have faith.”
But you can’t ignore the questions God has placed in your heart.
Can I encourage you?
Questions aren’t the enemy of faith.
They’re often the doorway to deeper faith…
when they’re carried into Scripture.
God isn’t intimidated by your questions.
He invites you to search His Word…
and discover His answers.
THE SILENT WATCHER
You’ve been here for a while.
Listening.
Learning.
Rarely commenting.
Maybe you’ve wondered whether this journey is really for you.
It is.
You don’t have to know everything before you begin.
You don’t have to speak before you belong.
You simply need a willing heart…
and an open Bible.
Because every disciple starts exactly where you are.
That’s what Bible College Without College is really about.
Not replacing pastors.
Not replacing faithful teachers.
But helping ordinary believers discover something beautiful:
God has always desired to reveal Himself through His Word.
One chapter at a time.
One conversation at a time.
One faithful step at a time.
If today’s lesson helps you believe…
“Maybe I really can understand the Bible…”
then you’ve already taken your first step.
Not toward becoming a scholar…
but toward becoming a disciple.
____________
Now that we’ve answered what Bible College Without College really is, another question naturally follows:
Why does doctrine matter in the first place?
Because if doctrine simply fills our minds, we’ve missed the point.
But when it reveals the God we love…
it transforms our relationship with Him.
____________
STEP 2 – Why Does Doctrine Matter for My Relationship with God?
Can I ask you something?
Have you ever met someone…
who knew a lot about God…
but didn’t seem to know God very well?
I’ve met people who could quote verses…
explain prophecy…
even debate difficult doctrines…
yet somehow…
their hearts seemed far from the God they were describing.
That always makes me stop and think.
Because if theology doesn’t help us know God more deeply…
what’s the point?
Maybe we’ve misunderstood what doctrine is.
The word itself sounds intimidating.
Academic.
Complicated.
But can I tell you how I’ve come to think about it?
Doctrine is simply the Bible answering the question:
“What has God told us about Himself?”
That’s all.
It’s not meant to make God harder to understand.
It’s meant to help us know Him more clearly.
Listen to what Jesus said.
John 17:3 – “And this is life eternal, that they might know You the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.”
I love that verse.
Notice what Jesus didn’t say.
He didn’t define eternal life by how much information we accumulate.
He defined it by a relationship.
“…that they might know thee…”
Not merely know about Him.
Know Him.
That’s why doctrine matters.
Because every true doctrine tells us something beautiful about God’s character.
His holiness.
His mercy.
His justice.
His love.
His faithfulness.
Every truth He reveals invites us to trust Him more.
Then listen to what the psalmist says.
Psalm 119:105 – “Your word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
Have you ever walked through a dark room with only a flashlight?
The light doesn’t show you everything at once.
It simply shows you the next step.
That’s what God’s Word does.
Little by little…
it reveals who He is.
And the more clearly we see Him…
the more confidently we follow Him.
Paul gives us another beautiful picture.
Romans 12:2 – “And be not conformed to this world: but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
I love that word.
Transformed.
How does transformation begin?
By the renewing of our minds.
In other words…
as God changes the way we think about Him…
He changes the way we live for Him.
Right belief…
produces right worship.
Right worship…
produces a changed life.
That’s why doctrine isn’t cold.
It’s deeply personal.
Then Peter reminds us where spiritual growth begins.
2 Peter 3:18 – “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever. Amen.”
Did you notice those two words?
Grow…
and
knowledge.
Biblical knowledge isn’t the finish line.
It’s the pathway.
The more we know Christ…
the more we grow in Christ.
Friend…
that’s why I don’t want you to be afraid of doctrine.
Doctrine isn’t a collection of difficult ideas.
It’s God’s gracious invitation to know Him as He truly is.
Because here’s something I’ve learned.
Every false picture of God creates unnecessary distance.
If I believe God is harsh…
I’ll hide from Him.
If I believe He’s indifferent…
I’ll stop praying.
If I believe He’s unreliable…
I’ll struggle to trust Him.
But when I know Him as He has revealed Himself in Scripture…
everything begins to change.
So here’s today’s second step.
The next time you read your Bible…
don’t begin by asking,
“What doctrine am I supposed to learn?”
Instead ask,
“God… what are You showing me about Yourself?”
That’s where real theology begins.
Not with a textbook.
Not with a classroom.
But with an open Bible…
a willing heart…
and a God who delights in making Himself known.
Because doctrine…
at its very best…
is simply learning to know…
the God who first chose to reveal Himself to us.
____________
Can I share something I’ve realized over the years?
Every person has theology.
Even people who say,
“I don’t care about doctrine.”
Because the moment we answer a question like…
“Can God be trusted?”
“Does God hear my prayers?”
“Is God really good?”
…we’re already expressing what we believe about Him.
That’s theology.
The question isn’t whether we have theology.
The question is whether our picture of God comes from Scripture…
or somewhere else.
Maybe you’re THE ANXIOUS WATCHER.
The world feels uncertain.
Every headline seems to raise another question.
Sometimes you’ve wondered,
“Is God still in control?”
Friend…
that isn’t just an emotional question.
It’s a theological one.
Because if God truly is sovereign…
then today’s headlines don’t change His throne.
The more clearly you know who God is…
the more peacefully you can live in a changing world.
Or maybe you’re THE SKEPTICAL OBSERVER.
You’ve heard so many different ideas about God…
that you’re not sure what to believe anymore.
Can I encourage you?
Don’t begin with people’s opinions.
Begin with God’s revelation.
Read the Gospels.
Listen to Jesus.
Watch how He speaks.
Watch how He loves.
If you want to know what God is like…
look at the Son who perfectly reveals the Father.
Or maybe you’re THE ENCOURAGER.
People naturally come to you with questions.
You want to help them well.
The greatest gift you can give isn’t simply your advice.
It’s confidence in God’s Word.
Because when people begin seeing God as He truly is…
hope grows.
Faith grows.
Trust grows.
Healthy relationships are built on truth.
And that’s true in our relationship with God as well.
Do you see what connects these three stories?
Whether you’re facing fear…
asking difficult questions…
or helping someone else grow…
everything comes back to one thing:
Who is God?
That’s why doctrine matters.
Not because it helps us win debates.
But because it helps us know the God who has revealed Himself in Scripture.
And the more clearly we know Him…
the more confidently we’ll trust Him…
love Him…
and follow Him.
____________
Now that we’ve discovered why doctrine matters…
another question naturally follows.
If God wants me to know Him… how does He actually teach me?
Let’s open the Scriptures together and discover God’s primary classroom—the pages of His Word.
____________
STEP 3 – How Does God Teach Me Through His Word?
Can I ask you something?
When you want to hear from God…
where do you go first?
Do you open YouTube?
Listen to a podcast?
Read another book?
Call a trusted friend?
Now, please don’t misunderstand me.
God has given His Church faithful pastors and teachers. They are gifts from Him, and I’ve learned so much from godly men and women over the years.
But before I hear what someone else says about God…
I want to hear what God says about Himself.
Because every healthy relationship begins by listening to the person you’re getting to know.
Isn’t that true in every relationship?
Imagine if you wanted to know someone…
but you only listened to what everyone else said about them.
Eventually you’d probably know a lot of opinions…
but not the person.
Our relationship with God is no different.
Listen to what Paul wrote.
2 Timothy 2:15 – “Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.”
I love that verse.
Notice who Paul is speaking to.
He’s encouraging believers to become careful students of God’s Word.
Not careless readers.
Not people who rush through chapters just to check a box.
But people who handle the Scriptures thoughtfully…
humbly…
and accurately.
Then listen to what the writer of Hebrews says.
Hebrews 4:12 – “For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
Think about that for a moment.
The Bible isn’t merely a book that gives information.
God says His Word is living.
It reaches places no human teacher can reach.
It reveals motives.
It exposes lies we believe.
It comforts.
It corrects.
It transforms.
That’s something no podcast can accomplish on its own.
Then Jesus prayed something remarkable.
John 17:17 – “Sanctify them through Your truth: Your Word is truth.”
Not opinions.
Not traditions.
Not whatever happens to be popular this year.
“Thy word is truth.”
That’s why Scripture must always come first.
Everything else…
every sermon…
every book…
every Bible study…
should be measured against God’s Word.
Then listen to what the Bereans did when Paul preached to them.
Acts 17:11 – “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the Word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”
I love this.
Paul didn’t rebuke them for checking the Scriptures.
He commended them.
They listened carefully…
then they opened their Bibles.
Friend…
that’s a wonderful pattern for all of us.
Listen.
Learn.
Study.
But always return to Scripture.
Because God’s Word is the final authority.
Here’s something I’ve found helpful over the years.
Before I reach for a commentary…
or another book…
I spend time asking simple questions of the passage itself.
What does it actually say?
What does it teach me about God’s character?
What does it reveal about Jesus?
How should I respond?
Those questions have slowed me down…
and they’ve helped me hear God’s voice more clearly through His Word.
So here’s today’s third step.
The next time you open your Bible…
begin with a simple prayer.
“Father…
teach me.
Help me understand Your Word.
Help me see You more clearly.
And don’t let me settle for someone else’s relationship with You when You’re inviting me into one of my own.”
Because that’s how God has always taught His people.
Through His Spirit…
working through His Word…
transforming willing hearts…
one passage at a time.
And friend…
that’s an education available to every believer who opens the Bible with humility…
and a desire to know the Author.
____________
Can I share something I’ve noticed?
The people who grow the deepest in their relationship with God aren’t always the ones with the biggest libraries…
or the most Bible degrees…
or even the most years in church.
They’re usually the people who have learned one simple habit.
They keep opening God’s Word.
Again…
and again…
and again.
Not because they’re trying to impress anyone.
Because they’re learning to recognize the voice of their Shepherd.
Maybe you’re THE HUNGRY DISCIPLE.
You don’t just want information.
You want transformation.
You long to know God more deeply than you did yesterday.
Can I encourage you?
Don’t measure your spiritual growth by how many chapters you finish.
Measure it by how faithfully you’re learning to listen.
Sometimes one verse…
deeply received…
will change your life more than ten chapters quickly read.
Or maybe you’re THE LUKEWARM CHRISTIAN WAKING UP.
You’ve realized you’ve spent more time listening to the world’s voices…
than to God’s voice.
And honestly…
you’re ready for that to change.
Friend…
awakening often begins with one simple decision.
Open your Bible before you open your feed.
Let God’s voice become the first voice shaping your heart each day.
Small choices…
made consistently…
often become life-changing habits.
Or maybe you’re THE DEBATE WATCHER.
You’ve listened to countless discussions about theology.
Some helpful.
Some confusing.
Some exhausting.
Can I gently encourage you?
Spend more time reading Scripture…
than reading arguments about Scripture.
Because the goal isn’t to win debates.
The goal is to know the God who speaks through His Word.
Do you see what connects all three of these people?
None of them became closer to God because they found a better personality to follow.
They grew because they kept returning…
to the One who had been speaking all along.
His Word.
That’s why this RELATIONSHIP lane exists.
Not to create dependence on another teacher.
But to help you become increasingly confident…
opening your own Bible…
listening carefully…
and discovering what God says about Himself.
One morning…
one chapter…
one faithful step…
at a time.
____________
If God teaches us through His Word…
then one more question naturally follows.
Do I really need seminary to know Him?
Let’s discover why God has never limited a relationship with Himself to a classroom—and why His invitation is open to every believer who seeks Him through Scripture.
____________
STORY OF AWAKENING
Can I tell YOU about someone?
In the quiet chambers of the heart, where the hustle of the world fades into a whisper, there lies a banquet hall for the soul. It is in this hallowed space that the art of meditation transforms the act of reading Scripture into a feast of divine flavors. Let us draw up a chair beside Mariah, a seeker whose hunger for spiritual depth led her to the ancient practice of Lectio Divina.
Mariah discovered in Lectio Divina a four-course meal for her soul. Each step a deeper dive into the heart of God’s Word.
- Lectio (Read). She begins with a slow, deliberate reading of the Scripture, savoring each word as one would savor the first bite of a cherished dish. As she reads, a phrase shimmers before her, inviting her to linger. “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path” (Psalm 119:105).
- Meditatio (Meditate). Mariah ponders the text, rolling it over in her mind, extracting the nuances of its flavor, allowing the Holy Spirit to marinate her thoughts with the truth she has tasted. “Blessed is the one . . . whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night” (Psalm 1:1–2).
- Oratio (Pray). With the words of Scripture softening her heart like warm bread softens with butter, Mariah’s meditation naturally seasons her prayers. She converses with God, her words a fragrant offering of reflection and response. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” (Philippians 4:6).
- Contemplatio (Contemplate). Finally, she rests in contemplation, sitting in silence before the Lord, the truths of Scripture infusing her being, nourishing her spirit, the presence of God encompassing her like the sweet aroma of a well-prepared meal. “Be still, and know that I am God . . .” (Psalm 46:10).
Mariah also explored other meditative strategies. She practiced “scriptio continua,” reading Scripture continuously and repetitively, which allowed the Word to wash over her repeatedly, each wave depositing fresh insight. She engaged in “praying the Scriptures,” where she turned the words of the Bible into personal prayers, making the ancient text alive and relevant to her life.
As Mariah grows in her practice of meditation, the verses she reads are no longer just words on a page but life-giving morsels to be chewed, digested, and treasured. Her daily readings become more than a discipline; they are an encounter with the Divine, leaving a lingering sweetness that sustains her throughout the day.
This section is an invitation to you, dear reader, to partake in this sacred practice. To let the words of Scripture settle in your heart as you meditate on them, allowing them to shape your thoughts, guide your prayers, and bring you into the peaceful presence of contemplation. For in the quiet tasting of God’s Word, we find the sustenance for our souls, the wisdom for our lives, and the joy of intimate fellowship with the Creator.
____________
Maybe today’s Story of Awakening…
wasn’t only for you.
Maybe…
God quietly brought someone to your mind.
The friend…
who sincerely loves Jesus…
but feels guilty…
because reading the Bible has become another task to complete…
instead of a conversation to enjoy.
Or maybe…
it’s the believer…
who’s convinced they don’t know enough…
so they keep waiting…
for someone else to tell them what God says…
instead of opening His Word themselves.
Or maybe…
it’s someone…
who longs to know God more deeply…
but has never been shown…
that theology isn’t about collecting information…
it’s about growing in relationship.
Can I tell you something?
Sometimes…
God awakens a heart…
not by making life louder…
but by inviting us…
to sit quietly with Him…
one open Bible…
one listening heart…
and one faithful day at a time.
And that’s what today’s journey has been about.
Not becoming more impressive…
but becoming more intimate…
with the God…
who has been waiting to meet us…
every time we open His Word.
Did someone come to mind?
If they did…
would you consider sharing today’s video with them?
Because you never know…
how God might use…
one invitation…
one conversation…
or one shared video…
to help someone stop believing…
they have to know everything…
before they can know Him.
And perhaps…
your decision to share today…
becomes part of someone else’s…
Story of Awakening.
____________
STEP 4 – Why Don’t I Need Seminary to Know God?
Can I tell you something that has encouraged me for years?
When I read the Gospels…
I’m amazed by who Jesus chose to spend His time with.
He certainly spoke with religious leaders.
He taught in synagogues.
He answered difficult questions.
But the people He called to follow Him…
were ordinary people.
Fishermen.
A tax collector.
Men and women whose greatest qualification…
wasn’t education.
It was a willingness to follow.
Sometimes I think we’ve quietly convinced ourselves that knowing God belongs to people with more education…
more experience…
or more credentials.
But Scripture paints a different picture.
Listen to Jesus’ invitation.
Matthew 11:28–29 – “Come unto Me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls.”
I love those words.
“Learn of me.”
Jesus didn’t say,
“First earn a degree.”
He didn’t say,
“First become an expert.”
He simply said,
“Come.”
Relationship begins with coming to Christ.
Then listen to what John wrote.
1 John 2:27 – “But the anointing which you have received of Him abides in you, and you need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teaches you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie…”
Now, John isn’t saying we don’t need pastors or teachers. Elsewhere in Scripture, God clearly gives teachers to the Church as a gift.
What John is reminding us is this:
Our ultimate Teacher is God Himself.
The Holy Spirit works through the Word to help believers know the truth.
That should encourage every one of us.
Because it means you’re never alone when you open your Bible.
Then Paul reminds us of God’s heart.
Ephesians 4:11–13 – “And He gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.”
Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God…”
Did you notice the purpose of teachers?
Not to replace your relationship with God.
To equip you.
Faithful teachers don’t build dependence on themselves.
They help people become rooted in Scripture and mature in Christ.
That’s exactly what I hope this lane does.
To encourage you…
to equip you…
and then to send you back to God’s Word with greater confidence.
Because your greatest relationship isn’t with a teacher.
It’s with the Lord Himself.
Then James gives us one more beautiful promise.
James 1:5 – “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that gives to all men liberally, and upbraids not; and it shall be given him.”
Did you hear that invitation?
“Ask of God.”
Not because teachers are unnecessary.
But because God delights in giving wisdom to those who seek Him.
Friend…
that’s wonderfully freeing.
You don’t have to wait until you know everything before you begin.
You don’t have to fear asking honest questions.
You don’t have to feel disqualified because you’ve never attended Bible college.
If God has invited you to know Him…
then He has also invited you to open His Word…
ask for wisdom…
and trust Him to teach you.
So here’s today’s fourth step.
Be thankful for faithful pastors.
Learn from trusted teachers.
Read good books.
But let every one of them do what they were designed to do…
point you back…
to the living Word of God.
Because before you learn what people say about God…
learn what God says about Himself.
That’s where confidence grows.
That’s where relationship deepens.
And that’s where every believer—regardless of education, background, or experience—is welcomed into the lifelong joy of knowing the God who first made Himself known.
____________
Can I share something beautiful I’ve noticed?
The people who know God most deeply…
aren’t always the people with the longest résumé.
They aren’t always the people with the most books…
the most degrees…
or the most letters after their name.
Very often…
they’re simply the people who keep showing up.
Day after day.
Bible open.
Heart open.
Ready to listen.
God has always delighted in meeting ordinary people in ordinary moments.
Maybe you’re THE EXHAUSTED BELIEVER.
You’ve tried to keep up.
Reading plans.
Devotionals.
Podcasts.
Study guides.
Sometimes you’ve walked away feeling like you’re still behind.
Friend…
God isn’t grading your performance.
He isn’t asking you to impress Him.
He’s inviting you to know Him.
One conversation…
one chapter…
one quiet morning at a time.
Or maybe you’re THE ISOLATED REMNANT BELIEVER.
Sometimes you’ve wondered if anyone else loves God’s Word the way you do.
You feel alone.
Misunderstood.
Quietly pursuing the Lord while the world rushes past.
Can I encourage you?
Every time you open your Bible…
you join a family of believers stretching across generations.
Ordinary men and women…
learning from the same faithful God.
You are not walking this journey alone.
Or maybe you’re THE SEEKER.
You’re still deciding what you believe.
You don’t have every answer.
You aren’t sure where this journey will lead.
That’s okay.
Jesus never said,
“Come to Me after you know everything.”
He simply said,
“Come.”
The invitation has always been relationship before mastery.
Questions before certainty.
Following before fully understanding.
Do you see what all three of these people have in common?
None of them began with perfect knowledge.
They began with willingness.
That’s the beautiful invitation of the gospel.
God isn’t waiting for you to become an expert before He welcomes you into His presence.
He’s inviting you to open His Word…
ask honest questions…
walk with Him faithfully…
and let Him shape you over a lifetime.
Because knowing God has never been reserved for a select few.
It has always been His invitation…
to every believer.
____________
So if God invites every believer to know Him personally…
how do we take that first step tomorrow morning?
Let’s finish today’s journey with one simple question:
How can I start learning theology today?
You’ll leave with a practical, Scripture-first pathway you can begin the very next time you open your Bible.
____________
STEP 5 – How Can I Start Learning Theology Today?
Can I ask you one final question?
What if learning theology isn’t something you start next year…
after you’ve bought more books…
taken more classes…
or finally feel ready?
What if it begins tomorrow morning…
with an open Bible…
and an open heart?
I think sometimes we make following Jesus more complicated than He ever intended.
We think,
“Once I know enough…
then I’ll really begin.”
But throughout Scripture…
God meets people where they are.
Then He teaches them as they walk with Him.
Listen to David’s prayer.
Psalm 25:4–5 – “Show me your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth, and teach me: for you are the God of my salvation; on you do I wait all the day.”
I love those verses.
David didn’t pray,
“Lord, give me more information.”
He prayed,
“Teach me.”
That’s the heart of a disciple.
Not someone pretending to know everything…
but someone eager to learn.
Then listen to what Solomon says.
Proverbs 2:1–6 – “My son, if you will receive My words, and hide My commandments with you; So that you incline your ear unto wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; Yea, if you cry after knowledge, and lift up your voice for understanding; If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt you understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom: out of His mouth comes knowledge and understanding.”
Did you notice where wisdom comes from?
“The Lord giveth wisdom.”
That changes everything.
The goal isn’t simply finding better resources.
The goal is seeking the God who gives wisdom.
Then James gives us another beautiful invitation.
James 1:5 – “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that gives to all men liberally, and upbraids not; and it shall be given him.”
Friend…
that verse has encouraged me so many times.
God isn’t irritated when His children ask Him to teach them.
He delights in it.
He welcomes it.
He invites it.
Then Jesus reminds us of something that keeps theology from becoming merely academic.
John 8:31–32 – “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on Him, If you continue in My Word, then are you my disciples indeed; And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
Did you hear that first phrase?
“Continue in my word.”
Not visit it occasionally.
Not depend on someone else’s relationship with it.
Continue.
Remain.
Abide.
That’s where discipleship grows.
Friend…
can I encourage you with something simple?
Tomorrow morning…
don’t worry about reading ten chapters.
Don’t worry about understanding everything.
Don’t worry about becoming a theologian overnight.
Instead…
find a quiet place.
Open your Bible.
Pray a simple prayer.
“Father…
before I learn what anyone else says about You…
teach me what You say about Yourself.
Help me understand Your Word.
Help me love You more.
Help me obey what You show me today.”
Then read slowly.
Ask questions.
Write down what you discover about God’s character.
Not just what the passage says…
but what it reveals about the One who inspired it.
Because theology isn’t merely collecting facts.
It’s learning the heart of your heavenly Father.
And that journey doesn’t begin in a classroom.
It begins wherever an ordinary believer…
opens an ordinary Bible…
and meets an extraordinary God.
That’s Bible College Without College.
Not because learning doesn’t matter…
but because the greatest Teacher has always been inviting you…
to sit with Him…
one page…
one prayer…
and one faithful day at a time.
____________
Can I leave you with one final observation?
Over the years…
I’ve noticed something about the people who grow steadily in their walk with God.
It isn’t that they know everything.
It isn’t that they’ve answered every theological question.
And it certainly isn’t that they’ve never struggled.
What sets them apart is much simpler than that.
They keep showing up.
Day after day…
they open God’s Word…
they listen…
they pray…
and they let God shape them over time.
Relationship grows the same way every healthy relationship grows.
One conversation at a time.
Maybe you’re THE PROPHECY BURNOUT VIEWER.
You’ve spent years studying signs…
timelines…
and current events.
There’s value in understanding prophecy.
But perhaps today God is inviting you to something even deeper.
Not simply knowing what is coming…
but knowing the One who is coming.
Prophecy was never meant to replace relationship.
It was meant to strengthen it.
Or maybe you’re THE SILENT WATCHER.
You rarely comment.
You quietly learn.
You wonder if anyone notices you’re here.
I want you to know…
God notices.
Every time you open His Word…
every quiet prayer…
every small step of obedience…
He sees it all.
Faithfulness is often formed in the quiet places.
Or maybe you’re becoming THE HUNGRY DISCIPLE.
Not because you know everything.
But because you’ve discovered something worth returning to every day.
You’re no longer opening your Bible just to finish a reading plan.
You’re opening it because you want to spend time with the God who loves you.
That’s the beginning of lifelong discipleship.
Do you see what connects all three of these people?
Each one discovered that spiritual maturity isn’t built in a single moment.
It’s built through faithful moments.
A quiet morning.
An open Bible.
An honest prayer.
A willing heart.
That’s why this lane is called RELATIONSHIP.
Not because doctrine doesn’t matter…
but because every true doctrine should lead us to know God more deeply.
Not simply to admire Him from a distance…
but to walk with Him…
listen to Him…
trust Him…
and love Him.
One page…
one prayer…
one morning…
at a time.
____________
Before we finish today…
I’d love to leave you with one final invitation.
Let’s slow down together for Today’s Coffee With God Moment—a quiet opportunity to turn everything we’ve learned today into one simple conversation with the God who is inviting you to know Him personally.
____________
TODAY’S COFFEE WITH GOD MOMENT – What Relationship Looks Like Daily
Before we leave today…
I’d love to spend one quiet moment with you.
No rushing.
No more notes to take.
Just you…
your Bible…
and the God who has been inviting you to know Him all along.
If your Bible is nearby…
would you open it with me?
Now, before you read another verse…
simply pause.
Take a slow breath…
and remember whose presence you’re entering.
You don’t have to perform.
You don’t have to impress Him.
You don’t have to know everything.
You’re simply His child…
coming to spend time with your Father.
Now pray something simple.
“Father…
Before I learn what anyone else says about You…
I want to hear what You say about Yourself.
Open my heart.
Open my understanding.
Help me know You more today than I did yesterday.
In Jesus’ name… Amen.”
Now…
begin reading.
Not to finish a chapter.
Not to check a box.
Read slowly.
Notice what stands out.
Ask yourself one question:
“What does this passage teach me about God’s character?”
Then sit quietly for just a moment.
Thank Him for what you’ve learned.
Ask Him how He wants you to live differently today.
Friend…
this is what relationship looks like.
Not extraordinary moments every day…
but ordinary moments…
faithfully shared with an extraordinary God.
And if you do this consistently…
one morning at a time…
you may discover something beautiful.
You’ll stop thinking of theology as something reserved for classrooms.
And you’ll begin experiencing it…
as a daily conversation…
with the God who loves you…
and delights in revealing Himself through His Word.
Before we move on…
I’d like to leave you with one thought.
Remember this…
Theology doesn’t begin in a classroom. It begins wherever a believer opens God’s Word with a humble heart and says, “Father, teach me.”
____________
Before we wrap…
If today’s message strengthened YOUR confidence in Christ…
comment “READY.”
I read those comments every week,
and I love seeing believers encourage one another.
And before YOU leave…
tell me one step YOU’RE going to take this week.
Maybe it’s opening your Bible tomorrow morning.
Maybe it’s talking with Jesus for the first time in a long time.
Maybe it’s sharing the Gospel with someone.
Or maybe it’s simply choosing obedience in one area of YOUR life.
Because here at Guardians of Biblical Truth…
we believe Scripture becomes transformation one step at a time.
____________
WRAP UP – From Knowing God to Walking with God
Friend…
what if today wasn’t really about theology?
What if it was about removing the fear that’s been keeping you from opening your Bible with confidence?
I hope that’s what you’re taking away from today’s journey.
Not the idea that you’ve mastered doctrine…
but the confidence that you don’t have to wait for a classroom before you can begin knowing God.
Because that’s always been His invitation.
To come.
To listen.
To learn.
To walk with Him.
One page at a time.
One prayer at a time.
One faithful day at a time.
Can I leave you with one thought?
Before you learn what people say about God…
learn what God says about Himself.
Open His Word first.
Read it slowly.
Ask honest questions.
Invite the Holy Spirit to teach you.
Then let every sermon…
every book…
every podcast…
and every Bible teacher simply help you understand the Scriptures more clearly.
That’s the heart behind Bible College Without College.
Not replacing faithful teachers…
but helping ordinary believers become confident students of God’s Word.
Because theology isn’t reserved for scholars.
It’s God’s invitation for every one of His children to know Him more deeply.
And friend…
I can’t wait to continue that journey with you.
____________
WHERE WE GO NEXT
Now let me show you where we’re headed next.
This wheel is our journey…
through Depth & Doctrine + Coffee With God…
one question at a time…
one discovery at a time…
one deeper relationship with God at a time.
Today…
we completed our first spoke:
Bible College Without College.
Together…
we discovered…
that theology doesn’t belong only inside classrooms…
or behind seminary walls.
It begins…
every time an ordinary believer…
opens an ordinary Bible…
and meets an extraordinary God.
Because before we learn…
what people say about God…
we must first learn…
what God says about Himself.
That’s where real doctrine begins.
Not with opinions…
but with Scripture.
Not with personalities…
but with God’s voice.
And that’s a beautiful foundation to build on.
Because once you understand…
that God invites every believer…
to know Him personally through His Word…
something changes.
The Bible becomes less intimidating…
and far more inviting.
Not simply a book to study…
but a relationship to enjoy.
Next time…
we’ll take the next step together.
We’ll answer another question that shapes everything we believe:
“Who Is God the Father?”
Not who culture says He is…
Not who tradition says He is…
but who He reveals Himself to be…
through His own Word.
We’ll discover…
His character…
His names…
His holiness…
His love…
and why having the right view of God…
changes every other doctrine…
and every part of life.
Little by little…
this wheel is helping us build…
a strong foundation.
One question.
One episode.
One month.
One faithful step at a time.
Because this journey…
has never simply been about learning more theology.
It’s about knowing God more deeply…
walking with Him more confidently…
and growing closer to Him…
one conversation…
one chapter…
one Coffee With God moment…
at a time.
And friend…
we’re just getting started.

GUARDIANS OF BIBLICAL TRUTH FORUM
This was a lot to take in…
And honestly…
it’s only the beginning.
Around here, we believe in Hope with Handles—
hope YOU can actually hold onto,
one faithful step at a time.
Because faith isn’t just something we believe…
it’s something we live.
____________
SCRIPTURE · STORY · STEP
That’s why we follow one simple rhythm:
SCRIPTURE • STORY • STEP.
Scripture tells us what God says.
Story helps God’s truth become personal.
Step is where faith becomes the way YOU actually live.
Because every checkpoint moves YOU from awareness to obedience, from belief to readiness, from saying “Amen” to living “Here I am, Lord.”
And that’s the journey we’re taking together.
One Scripture.
One Story.
One Step.
At a time.

PRAYER OF FAITH
Before we go… if you don’t know Jesus,
or if you’ve drifted far from Him
and you want to come home…
pray this with me.
Put your hands together and repeat after me:
John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
If you believe that, He is in your heart right now, and you shall be saved.
And if you want to receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, pray this prayer…
Father, in Jesus’ name,
Thank You for Your Word. Help us not just hear it – but obey it. Forgive us. Cleanse us. We repent, and we turn from sin back to You. Draw us close. Teach us to abide in You, to love You deeply, and to walk with You daily – not just know about You. Heal what’s broken, strengthen what’s weak, and restore our first love. Renew our minds, fill us with Your Spirit, and make us steady – without fear and without compromise. We give You our yes.
Amen.
