Good morning, my friend.
Pour yourself a cup of coffee.
Can I confess something?
A few weeks ago I realized… I didn’t know my best friend Jess’s birthday.
Not the month.
Not the day.
Nothing.
“How is that even possible?”
Now, before you judge me too harshly… Jess and I have walked through a lot together.
We’ve celebrated victories. Encouraged each other through hard seasons. She’s become my health accountability partner, and she’s one of the people God has used to answer my prayers.
But somehow… I never learned one of the simplest things about her.
Her birthday.
It bothered me more than I expected.
Not because I forgot a date… but because it made me stop and ask a harder question.
How well do I really know the people I love?
It’s easy to know someone’s prayer requests. Their favorite Bible verse. Even what coffee they ordered.
But do we know the little things? The details that quietly say, “I’m paying attention because you matter to me.”
So I became a bit of a detective.
I started asking mutual friends. Piecing together clues.
Until finally… I discovered it.
February 6th.
And yes… it’s safely in my calendar now.
✝️ What God Has Been Teaching Me
One of the verses I’ve been thinking about lately is Philippians 2:4:
“Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”
– Philippians 2:4
I don’t think Paul was only talking about meeting big needs.
Sometimes love looks surprisingly ordinary.
Remembering a birthday.
Sending a text.
Asking how an appointment went.
Following up on a prayer request weeks later.
The little things often become the big things.
I realized that meaningful relationships aren’t built through grand gestures.
They’re built one thoughtful moment at a time.
♥️ A Little Encouragement for Your Week
Is there someone the Lord has placed on your heart today?
Maybe send the text you’ve been meaning to send.
Maybe write down an important date before you forget it.
Maybe simply let someone know, “I was thinking about you today.”
You never know how much that simple act of remembering might mean.
I’m discovering that one of the sweetest ways we reflect Christ…
…is by helping people feel seen.
